The project envisages the construction of a small hydroelectric power plant (HPP) with an installed capacity of 2.0 MW on the High Tobol reservoir in the B. Maylin district of the Kostanay region. The maximum power generation capacity is 17,280,000 kWh.

The initiator of the project is the RSE «Kazvodkhoz».

What is the appeal of the project?

  • Environmental safety. Electricity generation at a hydroelectric power plant significantly reduces the amount of harmful emissions into the environment with minimal water consumption, and the used water is discharged back into the river through the flow part of the turbines.
  • Reliability of the raw material base. The raw material for the production of electricity is the water runoff of mountain rivers. The level of precipitation in the catchment area of the rivers is relatively stable, and the risk of a decrease in river runoff is estimated as minimal.
  • State support. The renewable energy sources sector (RES) is actively supported by the state. Today, enterprises in the RES sector are exempt from paying for electricity transmission services; they are provided with predictable and long-term tariffs and a guaranteed purchase of all electricity produced.
